Your baggage allowance includes checked baggage, depending on your fare.

Checked-in baggage

baggageThe number of free baggage items varies according to the fare booked. One item of baggage may weigh up to 23 kg, or up to 32 kg in Business Class.

The free baggage allowance for children up to 11 years old includes a checked bag weighing up to 23 kg (except in Economy Light or JustFly bookings made before 12/7/2016). We transport buggies/prams, children’s car seats and travel cots for accompanying children free of charge.

Carry-On Baggage

carry-on baggageOn each flight, you can take one item of hand baggage into the cabin, which may weigh up to 8 kg. The dimensions may not exceed 55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm. Please check the size of your hand baggage in the racks provided at check-in.

In addition one of the following items (max. 40 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm; 2 kg) may be taken into the cabin free of charge:

  • a laptop case
  • a lady’s handbag, a lady’s purse or a gentlemen’s handbag


Please note the EU cabin baggage regulations » for liquids:

  • liquid in handluggageIndividual liquid containers must not contain more than 100 ml
  • You may transport a maximum of 10 containers in your hand baggage
  • Any liquids must be carried in a transparent, re-sealable plastic bag that holds a maximum of 1 litre

Passengers traveling in Business Class can take a second piece of hand baggage. (Also applies to FlyFlex+ bookings made before before 12.07.2016)

In addition, the following items may be taken aboard if the passenger is dependent on them:

  • a wheelchair (to be left at the gate)
  • a pair of crutches and/or splints, other prostheses
  • a doctor's bag

Please note:

Since the space for hand baggage on board is limited, it may occur that in cases of heavy loading, you are asked for your safety to hand in your hand baggage for storage in the cargo hold.

The approved hand baggage allowance is subject to the provisions of the operating carrier, if one or more of your flights is operated by an airberlin partner.
