General information
The idyllic city of Zurich nestles between small hills on the lovely Lake Zurich and on the River Limmat.
Over 50 museums and more than 100 galleries, international brands and urban labels – not to mention the liveliest nightlife in Switzerland – are a few of the ingredients of the unique mix which Zurich offers its locals and guests alike.

Nightlife
The party nights in Zurich West, a former industrial zone, are a truly unique experience.
In September 2004 Indochine (Limmatstrasse 275) scooped the Finest Club Award, which is only presented to the most innovative and exclusive night clubs. Helsinki (Geroldstrasse 35) and Moods (Schiffbaustrasse 6) also draw the late night crowd.
The 18 river and lake lidos and open air pools are the perfect place to hang out in the summer. Some of them really hot up as night falls when the swimming areas are transformed into inviting bars and lounges:
- Barfuss Bar (Stadthausquai 12)
- Pier West (Lettensteg 10)
- Rimini Bar (Am Schanzengraben)

Restaurants
After a visit to Kaisers Reblaube (Glockengasse 7), you can rightly say that you have been to a restaurant known and loved by Goethe. In its country-style interior, local specialities are served up – including a wide selection of food for vegetarians.
And whilst we are on the subject of famous gourmets: in the Kronenhalle (Rämistraße 4), stars such as Pablo Picasso, Yves Saint Laurent and James Joyce have feasted here. However, the quality of the food and the exquisite ambience don’t come cheap. The restaurant is open daily between noon and midnight.
If you fancy a sweet treat strolling down Bahnhofstrasse, you would be hard pressed to find anywhere nicer or more stylish than Confiserie Sprüngli (Bahnhofstraße 21).

Shopping
Fashion victims with exquisite taste should definitely stop off at “Fidelio” (Münzplatz 1). Famous brands and exclusive creations are, without doubt, not exactly a scarce commodity in Zurich, and Fidelio is one of the best addresses around when it comes to fashion.
Although the street from the main station to Lake Zurich via Bahnhofstrasse is only 1.4 km long, it could take you hours to walk down it, since boutiques, cafés, bookshops and electrical shops rub shoulders with snack bars.
A lot healthier for your holiday budget is “Lux Plus” (Ankerstraße 24). In this second-hand shop, discover affordable vintage clothes and shoes: attention is paid to exclusivity, and the love of detail is evident.
