Regulations for carrying liquids in hand luggage
The following regulations apply to all flights and connecting flights from airports in the European Union, from Egypt, Norway and Switzerland.
Liquids may no longer be taken on board in hand luggage: they have been added to the “List of Prohibited Items” issued by the European Union and Switzerland.
Exceptions to this rule are liquids in individual containers. These individual containers may not have a capacity greater than 100 ml, and must be carried in a transparent, sealable, plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1l.
All individual containers must fit easily into the plastic bag. This plastic bag must be zipped up.
Liquids include gels, pastes, lotions, blends of liquids and solids, and the contents of pressurised containers such as:
• Toothpaste
• Hair gel
• Perfume
• Drinks
• Soups
• Drinks
• Shaving foam
• Aerosols
• and other items with a similar consistency
Exceptions can be made if the liquid is used during the flight and has a medical or dietetic purpose (this includes baby food).
Please contact your departure airport regarding the special regulations pertaining to the purchase of liquids in airport shops.
Please note that further security checks are carried out if you have to change flights.
You can still purchase any of the items from our on-board shop on any NIKI flight. Should these items contain liquids, your purchases will be packaged such that they comply with all the conditions of the new regulations.
Other countries not served by the NIKI network (e.g. Tunisia and Australia) have also established these conditions in local regulations and laws. Please contact the relevant representative of your destination in your own country before commencing your journey.
