NIKI: Milestone in the strategic partnership with Etihad Airways

NIKI's nonstop, long-haul service to Abu Dhabi will be taking off from Vienna from 24 November 2014. Tickets for codeshare flights with Etihad Airways on this route are on sale from 14 October 2014. This arrangement comes in the wake of an agreement for codeshare options recently concluded between the authorities in Austria and the United Arab Emirates. The planned codeshare programme with Etihad Airways will initially involve NIKI’s daily non-stop flights from Vienna to Abu Dhabi, and will be expanded in stages to include connecting flights from Abu Dhabi. A further 20 connections from Abu Dhabi will enter service shortly, to destinations including Australia, Asia and the Gulf region.

Managing Director of NIKI, Christian Lesjak, MA, said: ‘The launch of the new connection flight to Abu Dhabi, for the first time with the option to fly NIKI business class, represents an important milestone in our company history. With this codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways we will be able to offer our guests new attractive business and holiday destinations in the future.’

James Hogan, Etihad Airways' president and chief executive officer, explained: ‘Etihad Airways is delighted to add its EY code to the new daily NIKI service between Abu Dhabi and Vienna. It's the first connection between these two global capitals, and we are looking forward to working together with NIKI and transporting travellers to Abu Dhabi.’

NIKI and Etihad Airways already cooperate in their frequent flyer programs topbonus and Etihad Guest, allowing passengers to collect bonuses and status miles on flights with both airline partners.
