Forecasts for this year point towards a growth in passenger numbers to 3.5m, while revenue is expected to advance to EUR 380m.
New ownership structure
NIKI has strengthened its partnership with airberlin, which recently increased its interest in Niki Lauda’s Austrian airline from 24 % to 49.9%. NL Holding will continue to hold a 50.1% stake, ensuring that majority control remains with Niki Lauda.
According to Niki Lauda, “Creating a broad base for NIKI’s continued growth is important to me. Closer cooperation with airberlin will make us more profitable, more efficient and more attractive to passengers.”
As Joachim Hunold, CEO of airberlin PLC, explains: “The increased interest is the logical next step following years of successful cooperation with NIKI. NIKI’s network dovetails nicely with airberlin’s, and this development gives us additional access to the rapidly expanding Eastern European market.”
