NIKI ups expansion pace – non-stop flights from Vienna to Barcelona, Copenhagen and Nice from summer 2010

On 26 March 2010 NIKI will take a further step towards expanding its route network with the launch of three new direct flights, from Vienna to Barcelona and Nice (both daily), and Copenhagen (daily except Saturdays). The move has been made possible by the decision to grow the fleet to 17 aircraft. The airline plans to boost capacity by well over 30% next year. Expansion in Western Europe comes hot on the heels of the introduction of flights to Belgrade, Bucharest and Sofia on 1 February 2010, showing how the pace of NIKI’s growth is hotting up.

Said Niki Lauda: “Of course we’re upping the tempo. I always put my foot on the gas when I see a chance to overtake, and the time is ripe at present. We now have one less competitor in Vienna, the market leader is having to restructure, passengers are cost conscious and I can offer just what they are looking for. Never mind the crisis, this is a great opportunity and I’m not going to let it slip away!

Thanks to this latest expansion, from early 2010 NIKI will be serving all of the major routes from Vienna. Over the past few years NIKI has repeatedly reaped the benefits of adding destinations which are equally popular with tourists and business travellers.

Lauda added: “The NIKI network is so successful because our routes appeal to businesspeople and holidaymakers alike. I think that my new connections to Barcelona, Copenhagen and Nice will significantly increase passenger volumes. These new routes will also help push NIKI and partner Air Berlin very close to the 30% share of the Vienna market we are targeting as early as 2010.

NIKI will be running non-stop scheduled flights to the following destinations in summer 2010:

From EUR 29: Belgrade, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Innsbruck, Milan, Munich, Nice, Paris, Rome, Sofia, Stockholm and Zurich.
From EUR 49: Barcelona, Cagliari, Moscow, Olbia and Palma de Mallorca.

NIKI is also offering flights from all over Austria to more than 30 tourist destinations. Early-bird flight deals are now available online at www.flyniki.com, via the Service Centre on 0820 737800 and from travel agents.
