General info

The idyllic city of Zurich is located at the upper end of Lake Zurich on a series of small hills. The old town is bisected by the river Limmat.

A choice of more than 50 museums and over 100 galleries, numerous international brands and urban fashion labels, and Switzerland’s most colourful and lively party scene are just some of the ingredients in the unique blend of attractions that helps Zurich cast a spell over locals and visitors alike.

The party nights in Zurich West, a former industrial zone, are a truly unique experience.

In September 2004 Indochine (Limmatstrasse 275) scooped the Finest Club Award, which is only presented to the most innovative and exclusive night clubs.

Helsinki (Geroldstrasse 35) and Moods (Schiffbaustrasse 6) also draw the late night crowd.

After a visit to Kaisers Reblaube (Glockengasse 7), you can rightly say that you have been to a restaurant known and loved by Goethe. In its country-style interior, local specialities are served up – including a wide selection of food for vegetarians.

And whilst we are on the subject of famous gourmets: in the Kronenhalle (Rämistraße 4), stars such as Pablo Picasso, Yves Saint Laurent and James Joyce have feasted here. However, the quality of the food and the exquisite ambience don’t come cheap. The restaurant is open daily between noon and midnight.

If you fancy a sweet treat strolling down Bahnhofstrasse, you would be hard pressed to find anywhere nicer or more stylish than Confiserie Sprüngli (Bahnhofstraße 21).

Fashion victims with exquisite taste should definitely stop off at Fidelio (Münzplatz 1). Famous brands and exclusive creations are, without doubt, not exactly a scarce commodity in Zurich, and Fidelio is one of the best addresses around when it comes to fashion.

Although the street from the main station to Lake Zurich via Bahnhofstrasse is only 1.4 km long, it could take you hours to walk down it, since boutiques, cafés, bookshops and electrical shops rub shoulders with snack bars.

A lot healthier for your holiday budget is Lux Plus (Ankerstraße 24). In this second-hand shop, discover affordable vintage clothes and shoes: attention is paid to exclusivity, and the love of detail is evident.
