NIKI Luftfahrt GmbH
NIKI’s Airbus and Embraer fleet, and list of destinations has been growing steadily ever since the company’s foundation in November 2003. In late 2011, Niki Lauda sold his stake in NIKI to fellow shareholder airberlin, creating Europe’s first low-fare alliance. However, NIKI remains an independent company with its own management.
The airline currently employs 836 people. It carried around 4.5 million passengers in 2011. The NIKI fleet comprises four Airbus A321s (212 seats), 12 Airbus A320s (180 seats), and seven Embraer E190s (112 seats).
NIKI has been an affiliate member of the global oneworld® airline alliance since 20 March 2012. This has enabled the airline to offer a wider range of connecting flights, as well as exclusive benefits for frequent flyers.

History
2012 – airberlin group, Vienna hub, oneworld
NIKI’s full integration with the airberlin family at the end of 2011 brought a host of financial and logistic advantages for both airlines – and will benefit their shared customers even more. As part of the integration process, NIKI’s base at Vienna International Airport was designated an airberlin group hub, with a focus on destinations in Southeastern Europe. The development of the Vienna hub within the airberlin group means that NIKI and airberlin passengers can look forward to additional connecting flights, more frequent services and more convenient departure times. New routes such as Vienna-Tel Aviv and Vienna-Florence will be added in 2012.
On 20 March 2012 airberlin became a member of the world’s leading airline alliance, oneworld®, with NIKI receiving the status of affiliate airline.
